Fixed-Head Polespears
One common problem with other polespears arise when a heavier fish is working the end of the shaft. A front end will usually bend or break when carrying a big enough fish. The carbon-fiber adds just enough flexibility to eliminate this problem. All the beating is absorbed by the flexibility of the front end of the polespear, making it virtually indestructible.
On the front end, you will be landing more fsh with a ’spring-grab’ tri-tip paralyzer made of heat-treated stainless, built to withstand impact on the rocky reefs. Instead of waiting for those prongs to rust, as the Hawaiians do, they have been pre-textured to insure a landing on those more aggressive fish. Prongs are also ‘flared out’ at the ends to help with keeping the fish on your shaft.
Care Instructions
Keep all threaded ends lubed with lanoline, Vaseline, or even hand lotion. This will ensure longer lasting threads that won’t bind or cross-thread.
If your band seems too long, I recommend tying a knot near the ‘hand’ end close enough so that all 4 of your knuckles fit snug within the loop it creates. This shortens the band and makes for a ’safety net’ in case you were to let go of you polespear.
Make sure the threaded connections are tight before use. Loose connections may result in damage to the aluminum, set screw, or both as you are loading the polespear.
